My son is autistic they thought he wouldn't be able to talk, One day he said I love you, I cried. He's first words. He's 22 years old now, they say mental his mind set is of a 9 year old child .....doesn't matter I love him so much and he's the sweetest guy you'd ever want to know.

I saw a video yesterday of a non verbal 5yo wanting her mothers phone... when she got the phone that little girl had taken a video where she had proudly given a tour of her yard and showcased dandelions, grass, and then she saw her mom in the background and said that was her beautiful mom and she loves her so much and shes the best mom in the entire world...... it's like she had been waiting for an opportunity like that to let her feelings and thoughts out. People mistakenly believe that nonverbal means they do not understand, but sometimes they not only understand, they relate, learn, and retain.. they sometimes just dont have an outlet. That was probably the sweetest moment of that mamas motherhood experience and she got to see how her empathetic, understanding, and determined approach to parenting her daughter actually paidoff in that video.
